There are important practical reasons for wearing sunglasses when you're riding, and especially on lengthy charity and endurance rides.

That they keep the sun out of your eyes is pretty obvious, but they're also great for keeping other undesirable stuff out too from gravel and flies, to dust, wind and spray. We even heard of an experienced rider who was hit full in the face by a large crow and swore that his glasses saved his eyes from serious damage! Not sure how the crow felt about it though.

There are sunglasses to fit every head and budget - and the Ride2Raise team own and use models ranging in price from £40 to £250 from Oakley, BBB, Giro, Endura, 3m and Specialized. All are well made and do a great job.

But the sunglasses we'd really recommend are actually the Triple Lens Sunglasses from Wiggle's in-house label, dhb. These glasses just work brilliantly. They're light and fit snugly with rubber grippers on the arms that mean there's no slippage however long you ride for and in whatever conditions. They also come in a decent padded case with easily fitted grey, blue and clear lenses. Best of all these beauties cost almost 50% less than any of the other glasses we own (currently on sale at Wiggle for just £20.99).
